Dancing snow gums - by Aunty Sally

This picture by Aunty Sally is called Dancing snow gums. I think the reason why this painting was called the dancing snow gums is because the trees - snow gums -are curved and twisting as if they are dancing.

Aunty sally used dot painting for the background and lots of colors used in the tree blend in well, creating tone and a realistic effect.

The mood seems happy and cheerful because the trees are dancing like it's in a party and having fun.

Down in the Dell, Foxground - By Aunty Sally

This painting by Aunty Sally looks like a point of view from the top of a hill of a farm. The barb -wire fences are obviously old and the fence posts are a bit rotten. The time of the day might be about midday since it looks bright and sunny.
The grass on the sidewalk and the bushes in the farm looks overgrown. The right most tree in the group of three trees is hollow and quite old.
Aunty Sally used some dot painting for the leaves of the trees and for the grasses on the sidewalks near the fence. She also used tones which helped to create a realistic effects.
The mood of this painting is bright and cheerful and it shows the nature in a way that we see but forget. We see the hollow tree and old fences but some people tend to forget when told to paint a picture of the nature.

Art 16/2/10

Today, we got our painted sheet of paper from last lesson and after watching aunty sally’s demonstration, I drew a rectangle around the photo of me with a piece of chalk. The rectangle on the photo was drawn on the painted paper but the rectangle was doubled. I drew the outline of myself, looking at the phot while the photo was held upside down. This was a challenge and I turned out to have a really long body.

Things I saw when Aunty Sally painted

At first, aunty sally painted a red sky with lump lines and weird shapes on a black background.
To be honest, i thought it wasnt very artistic. But as Aunty sally progressed, I saw more shapes and lines. I could tell she was a good artist because of all the explanation and the way she could paint whatever she wanted without hesitation and accuracy ecen though she didnt really try her best!
She progressed from the sky to the ground and I saw even more blobs, fuzzballs and weird shapes of painting and I thought maybe i should get new glasses.
She added more color to it and she flipped the painting over.
Then I saw it was a really accurate picture of the photograph she was holding in her other hand.
I finally realized that she painted the painting upside. The painting was very good and I couldn't believe that she drew that painting upside down!!!
It was very good and she was totally amazing!
